2020 has recently begun and you’ve probably already asked yourself what you would like to accomplish by the end of this year. You may have even written down your traditional list of your New Year’s resolutions. Many of them, in previous years, have wound up rolling over to the next year or falling off the list altogether.
If you really want to make 2020 your best year yet, I encourage you to consider a better approach. Instead of asking yourself what you would like to accomplish in 2020, the wisest question you can ask is “What is God’s purpose for my life, and what does He want me to accomplish this year?” It is extremely important that you find out what His plan is since it is the only one that He will ensure the success of (Psalm 32:8 – TLB), and the only one that will ultimately bring you true satisfaction.
There are seven (7) steps to discovering and achieving God’s purpose for your life and the first step is REVELATION. Only God knows what He put you on this earth to do so only He can tell you what it is.
Genesis chapter 37 provides a biblical example of how the Lord revealed His purpose to a young man named Joseph. In a dream the Lord told him that one day he would be in a position of authority and his brothers would bow down to him. Sometime later, Joseph had a second dream in which God confirmed what He had revealed to him in the first dream.
While God chose to reveal His purpose for Joseph in a dream, He can reveal His purpose for your life in any of a number of ways that He knows you will understand. Discovery of God’s purpose comes to prepared minds. All you have to do to hear from Him is spend quality time meditating on His Word, apply it to your life, and cultivate a relationship with Him through sincere, heart-felt prayer. At the time of His choosing, when He knows that you are ready, He will reveal His purpose for your life to you.
The Lord has placed you on this earth for a specific purpose and my goal is to help you discover what it is and accomplish it. I’ll be using this blog to expound on some of the topics in my book “Bitter Cup, Sweet Aftertaste – Lessons from the Wilderness” and its study guide. Facebook or LinkedIn are great places for you to ask me any questions that you have about the book, or anything I post, and to share how these lessons are helpful to you. Stay tuned for the next six (6) steps to discovering and achieving God’s purpose for your life.
